Process

This is a high level look at my typical process with new clients.  It can easily be adapted to suit your needs.

Initial Consultation:  Usually a 30 – 45 minute phone conversation to determine fit. We’ll discuss your project's high-level goals, timelines, and budget.

Project Proposal and Agreement:  Based on the Initial Consultation, I will send a Project Proposal outlining the scope of work and the investment for my services. Following approval of the Project Proposal, we will sign an agreement outlining the scope of work.

Please Note: I require 50% of the project total to be paid prior to starting on the work. The balance will be due when I deliver approved final copy.

Initial Client Discovery:  The purpose of this is to provide me with as much information as possible about your company, the product, and the specific project so I can begin my research. This includes completing a Creative Brief and providing me with additional materials.

Launch Session:  A Launch Session will be scheduled approximately 5-10 days following my receipt of the Client Discovery materials. The purpose of the launch session is to discuss the project and deliverables in detail. Ideally this meeting will include all the key people involved in this project from your team (marketing, product expert, person signing the letter, etc.).

Solidify the Theme:  I will provide rough theme ideas based on our Launch Session discussion and send them to you for feedback.

First Draft: Once we’ve agreed on a theme, I will start writing your copy. The first draft can typically be delivered for your review in 10-15 business days.

Revisions:  Revisions, if requested, typically take 1-3 business days.  My fee includes two rounds of revisions, which should be enough.

I am committed to providing you with great copy and I’ll gladly work with you until you are satisfied.  I can certainly make additional changes, provided they don't deviate from the agreed to assignment (otherwise they may be subject to an additional fee).

Final Draft:  Once all revisions are made, I will submit a final draft. If approved, I will submit an invoice for the balance, payable upon receipt.

Finished Copy:  In most cases, the final copy is formatted by your staff (or a freelance) designer. As part of my services, I can spend some time working with your designer to discuss the design direction.  I strongly recommend you send me the final version to review. I will double check that any graphic elements added by your design team effectively support the copy as intended.
